Youth Buddy Program

The Youth Buddy Program is an ongoing initiative, funded by the Ministry of Advance Education and Labour Market Development, that aims to ease the process of settlement and adaptation for immigrant and refugee youth who are 7 to 18 years old. The program is in essence a cultural exchange within the city whereby newcomer youth are paired up with established youth to increase their cultural awareness and understanding while enjoying a wide variety of one-on-one and group activities. In addition, the Youth Buddy Program acts as a safe environment and a supportive network for newcomer youth and also introduces them to the different services and activities that are available to them in their school and community.

Recruitment takes place on an ongoing basis; to join the group eligible youth are invited to attend any of the by-weekly group activities. The group activity details are posted at IMSS reception and can also be requested through mails or e-mail.
